What are your thoughts on Middle East current bar scene?
It is definitely an emerging market in the Middle East! With many new bars openings every month in Lebanon, and new markets burgeoning in countries such as Egypt, no doubt this part of the world will be the next star. Besides, more and more bars are shifting from classic cocktail focused menu to a more bespoke and local focused menu. This highlights the awareness of regional flavor and ingredients, which we believe offers a new perspective into the world of cocktails.
Tell us more on the pop-up cocktail menu that you made for Cocktail Street?
The menu we are presenting in Cocktail Street is a mix of Bing Sutt best sellers, secret off-menu items and newly invented Nikka Coffey cocktails. We took inspiration from some of our recent Asian destinations, including China, Indonesia, Japan and Vietnam. Each cocktail combines exotic Asian aromas with mystic Middle Eastern flavors. Think of our all-star Ginza Affair made with the sansho pepper forward Nikka Coffey Gin, or our Bali Old Fashioned inspired from the banana jungle and pandan fields of Indonesia. Each cocktail tells an adventure of us creating unique flavors that showcase two diverse culture on both ends of the ancient silk road.
Are you planning to do a thorough tour of Whisky Live while you are here? Which booth is the one not to be missed in your opinion? brands here.
Definitely the Nikka Whisky collection! That is not to missed since we are really amazed by the Nikka Coffey gin – can’t wait to try their other selections. And of course other Asian whisky and rum brands such as Kavalan and Chalong bay. Since we are an Asian Middle Eastern bar, the more Asian inspiration the better!
